פרופ' אהוד אסיה

 

פרופ' אהוד אסיה, מנהל מחלקת עיניים במרכז הרפואי מאיר, כפר-סבא ומנהל רפואי "עין טל" מרכז לרפואת עיניים.

בוגר בית הספר לרפואה ע"ש סאקלר, אוניברסיטת ת"א, (בהצטינות 1980) ובעל תואר מאסטר באופתלמולוגיה (בהצטיינות יתרה 1987). התמחות ברפואת עיניים במכון העיניים ע"ש גולדשלגר, המרכז הרפואי שיבא, תל השומר (1984-1989) ושנתיים השתלמות במרכז לחקר עדשות תוך עיניות בצ'רלסטון, דרום קרולינה, ארה"ב. בשנת 1994 מונה כמנהל מחלקת העיניים במרכז הרפואי מאיר, כפר-סבא. פעילותו האקדמית כללה הקמת המעבדה לכירורגיה ניסיונית בבי"ח מאיר, ראש החוג לקטרקט של איגוד רופאי העיניים וראש החוג לרפואת עיניים של אוניברסיטת תל- אביב בשנים 1998-2002. בשנת 1999 מונה כפרופ' חבר ומ- 2007 הינו פרופ' מן המניין בפקולטה לרפואה ע"ש סאקלר. לפרופ' אסיה מעל 100 מאמרים בספרות המקצועית ופרסומים רבים נוספים, הוא העורך הראשי של עיתון העיניים "The Israeli Journal of Eye Update" . הוא מעורב בארגון כנסים רפואיים בארץ ובעולם ומרכז את הכנס השנתי למיקרוכירורגיה של עין שהינו הגדול והחשוב בכינוסים בארץ. פרופ' אסיה מרבה להשתתף בכנסים ברחבי העולם בעיקר בשטח מומחיותו –ניתוחי קטרקט ועדשות תוך עיניות. פרופ' אסיה הינו המנהל הרפואי של מכון העיניים "עין טל"  ומבכירי מנתחי הקטרקט בארץ.

 

 

Ehud I. Assia, MD

Ehud Assia, graduated the Sackler School of Medicine at the Tel-Aviv University in 1980 (Magna Cum Laude) and has a Master degree in Ophthalmology (Summa Cum Laude, 1989).  Following military service as the medical officer of a paratroop battalion and infantry brigade he did his residency in Ophthalmology at the Goldschleger Eye Institute at the Sheba Medical Center, Tel-Hashomer. He completed 2-year fellowship at the Center for Intraocular Lens Research (David J. Apple, MD) at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC, USA. In 1994 he became the Director of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Meir Medical Center, Kfar-Saba.

 

Dr Assia is Full Professor at the Tel-Aviv University; and was the Director of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Sackler School of Medicine between 1998-2002. He was the principle investigator of the Laboratory for Intraocular Microsurgery and Implants at the Goldschleger Eye Research Institute and founded the Laboratory of Experimental Microsurgery at the Meir Medial Center. His main interest is lens pathophisiology, anterior segment surgery and intraocular implants. He published over a hundred peer-reviewed papers in the leading professional journals and participates extensively in international meetings. He is the organizer of the Annual Conference of Ocular Microsurgery, the biggest meeting in ophthalmology in Israel. Dr Assia serves as a reviewer and board member of several of the most prestigious journals in ophthalmology and is the Chief Editor of a local journal in ophthalmology (“Israeli Journal of Eye Update"(.

 

Prof Assia is also the  Medical Director of the Ein Tal Eye Center, the biggest private eye center in the country. Ein-Tal is a multi sub-specialty Clinic and Ambulatory Surgical Center in which some of the leading ophthalmologists in Israel provide medical and surgical treatment including: cataract surgery, refractive surgery, glaucoma, retina, oculoplastics etc….
